A Point Reyes Getaway

I recently went on a little overnight getaway up to Point Reyes for my moms 65th birthday. It was a beautiful day and a half exploring cute towns, kayaking on the bay, and eating great food. Sharing some of the spots we went to below in case you'd like to do a similar getaway.
STAY:
We stayed at the Olema House, it was super charming and had great amenities including a fire pit (with s'mores provided at night), a game room, horse shoes, spots to sit along the river, coffee and wine included with every room, a chess boards in the lobby (loved playing a round of chess over a cup of coffee when we woke up), and free parking. It was really close to Point Reyes Station, the redwoods, and kayaking docks.
I had also looked into Nicks Cove, which was a bit more north (right next to where we kayaked), but a bit out of the budget for this trip so we're saving it for another time. It's super charming so definitely worth coming back to or stopping by for a cocktail on the waterfront.

DO:
Kayaking: We booked the "sick day" kayaking trip with Point Reyes Adventure Co. Our guides, Liz and Dallas, were not only super knowledgeable on the water, but also knew tons of history about the area as well as being extremely passionate about the outdoors. They offer a variety of adventures so there's sure to be something for whatever type of exploration you're looking for!
Window Shopping: We wandered around the shops in Point Reyes station and if you just walk down the street you can pretty much pop into everything there, but a few noteworthy ones if you have limited time can be found below:
Gallery Route One
Point Reyes Station Farmers Point
Vita Collage
Point Reyes Books
Hiking:
Roys Redwoods Preserve: we stopped here on our way into the area, it was a very short but sweet walk in the redwoods. Not so much a hike, but you could make it into one if you wanted to with a longer trail!
Muir Woods: our original plan was to stop and hike in Muir Woods, but we waited too long to reserve a spot and it was all booked up; so if you want to hike here be sure to book in advanced.
EAT:
We were only there for a few meals, but the meals we had were pheneom! Listing where we went below:
Pt Reyes Mexican Grill: Pop up truck with the best veg burrito I've had in a long time. Super fresh nd cooked to perfection.
Station House Cafe: Loads of options (including vegetarian friendly options which was oddly rare for dinner spots in the area) and great (but loud lol) live music. Lots of seating/tables available.
Pelican Inn: on our way back we stopped in Pelican Inn to grab a snack and a drink, it was soooo charming and definitely worth the stop! If you want to eat a full meal here just make sure to book in advance.
We didn't have time (or stomach room) to check out these other places, but they also looked noteworthy:
Cafe Reyes
Side Street Kitchen
The Farmer's Wife
Due West (next to Olema House)
If you don't live around here and are doing a longer visit there are so many other charming parts of the area like Stinson Beach, Sausalito, and Mill Valley, if you're looking to explore other charming areas north of the city!
Hope that was helpful or inspiring for your next mini getaway!
Until the next one,
xx Rose
